Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated on Nov. 12 that the government will acquire the first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines by the end of 2020.

“We’ve started looking for vaccines and by the end of this year, and for the whole of the next, we will have secured 1.8 million doses of – likely – Pfizer vaccine. We’re also negotiating with our Chinese and Russian partners,” Vucic said in his official address.

He said he hopes that by the end of January 2021 there will be enough vaccines for the entire health sector and the largest part of the military and police force, which should make their work much easier.

“After them come the most vulnerable groups, those with serious diseases, and then the middle-aged, and then the younger generations. We will give our best to procure as many vaccines as possible and to end the fight against COVID-19, as one of the most successful countries in Europe,” the president said.

Vucic also congratulated the COVID-19 Crisis Headquarters, the medical staff and all the citizens who are adhering to the measures and thus aid the prevention and treatment of coronavirus.
