The director of the Institute of Public Health Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut, Verica Jovanovic, on Nov. 17 said she expected the number of coronavirus cases to rise in the coming days as the number of tested had also been increased.

She told TV Pink that Belgrade was still the biggest hotspot, but noted that the number of positive Covid-19 cases had also been on the rise in other towns. She added that the number of young people hospitalized had also been increasing and that beds in intensive care units were near capacity.

“It is highly important to follow all precautions on a daily basis,” she stressed.

Jovanovic further stressed that regardless of the health system’s preparedness, it was crucial to wear a mask, keep a safe distance and keep living and work spaces clean.
