According to the RTS public service’s broadcast from Dec. 3, Pfizer and BioNTech have sent Serbia the documentation for the registration of their COVID-19 vaccine.

Pavle Zelic from the Serbian Medicines and Medical Devices Agency said that the agency’s experts will start their assessment of the documentation and “thoroughly” study all the testing phases to confirm the efficiency and safety of the vaccine.

“As a regulatory body, we have to confirm if what the documents say is correct and if [the vaccine] has the attributes they claim it does,” Zelic said, adding that what is most important is to establish if the vaccines are safe to use.

According to him, it would be best if Serbia had several different vaccines because then the experts could also conduct their critical appraisal.
