Dr Branislav Tiodorovic, an epidemiologist at the  Covid-19 Crisis Headquarters, announced on Dec. 21 that the Serbian government's response team had decided to allow shopping malls, restaurants, coffee shops and various service providers to be open until 8 pm on working days, noting that Covid-19 inspectors would be checking if the new restrictions were enforced.

According to Dr Tiodorovic, the new restrictions will remain in effect until Dec. 25, and the next five days will be used to "assess the situation."

The Serbian epidemiologist also explained that "no music whatsoever is permitted" in restaurants and bars. "Music helps people to relax, and when relaxed, they don't pay attention to the restrictions, facilitating the transmission of the virus," Tiodorovic said, adding that cultural institutions would remain open until 9 pm.
