The Party of Freedom and Justice, the Democratic Party and Movement of Free Citizens said in a letter to the European Parliament (EP) that a dialog between the authorities and opposition on election conditions in Serbia should begin as soon as possible, the European Western Balkans website reported on Jan. 19.

They warned the EP, as the mediator in these talks, that any postponement could harm the dialog process and lower the chances of an agreement that would be accepted by all as well as its implementation.

Said opposition parties also said they were concerned about "the lack of political will on the part of the ruling parties to accept a solution that would solve the political crisis in Serbia."

They added that they had informed the EP's lawmakers "that the up-coming dialog is being heralded in an atmosphere of immense abuse of power, the ridiculing of the opposition's efforts and initiatives, as well the brutal suppression of independent voices in the country."
