A professor of the Washington-based University Johns Hopkins, Daniel Serwer, stated on Jan. 20 that the Balkans did not need a high place on the list of priorities of the new American administration, but consistency in the cooperation between Washington and Brussels.

Serwer stated that internal issues, especially the fight against covid-19 and economic revival, would dominate the list of priorities of the newly elected president, Joseph Biden, while he will be faced with great challenges on the international plane – from China to Iran, North Korea and Russia.

"He will have to set the priorities for solving. To be honest, the Balkans is not high on the list, but it is also true that the Balkans does not need any particular attention of the U.S. president," Serwer told Television N1.

He believes that the Balkans did not need high priority, but consistency in the cooperation between Washington and Brussels, and hopes that the Biden administration would bring a new degree of consistency in cooperation with Europe, which did not exist in the previous four years.
