Mirsad Djerlek, the state secretary at the Health Ministry, on Jan. 26 said that another batch of 250,000 doses of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccines should arrive in Serbia in seven days, adding that talks for the procurement of 800,000 doses of AstraZeneca’s shots were in the final phase.

Djerlek told state public broadcaster RTS that AstraZeneca jabs would be procured through Poland as earlier announced by President Aleksandar Vucic, adding that more doses of Chinese vaccines were also expected to arrive.

Asked about the new strain of coronavirus in Britain, which had also been detected in Serbia, Djerlek said there was no reason to panic, but that all should be careful considering the events in the countries where the news strain had appeared.

As of Jan. 26, Covid-19shots will be administered only to citizens who have applied through the electronic system and have been given their appointment time.

The government has earlier said that there is no need for queuing as all citizens will receive shots in accordance with priority plan.
