Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic reported on Feb. 11 that in Serbia, 544,639 people, of whom 164,054 are from Belgrade, have received the vaccine against COVID-19 so far.

Out of the 44,529 people to get revaccinated, exactly 12,402 have received their second shots in Serbia’s capital, Vesic added. “That means, as can you see, that the vaccination and revaccination are going according to the plan made by the Serbian government,” the deputy mayor said for the RTS public service.

Dusan Popadic, an immunology professor with the Belgrade School of Medicine, believes that Serbia’s Torlak Institute may help with the final production stage of the Russian vaccine, Sputnik V.

“That means that the vials could be filled at Torlak and then distributed to the vaccination points,” Popadic stated for the Feb. 11 issue of the Danas daily.

On the evening of Feb. 10, a new shipment comprising 500,000 doses of the vaccine produced by the Chinese Sinopharm arrived at the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo together welcomed the plane carrying the vaccines.
