Number of Foreign Officials Congratulate Serbian President on National Statehood Day

On the occasion of Serbia’s Statehood Day, celebrated on Feb. 15, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has received letters of congratulations from the presidents of the U.S., China, Russia and a number of other world leaders, according to the President’s Office press release.

Among those sending the congratulatory notices were Queen Elizabeth II of the U.K., Irish President Michael Higgins, President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin, King William-Alexander of the Netherlands, King of Spain Felipe VI, as well as president of Ukraine Volodmyr Zelensky and Israeli President Reuven Rivlin.

Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also congratulated Serbia on its holiday, with the Turkish leader saying that “it makes [him] very happy that Serbia and Turkey’s relations and collaborations, both the result of mutual ties at all levels, have reached their historical peak.”

Congratulations also came from high officials from Hungary, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, Austria, Greece, Cypress, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Egypt, Algeria, Tunis, Cuba, South Korea, Indonesia and other countries.  

In his letter, the acting Governor General of Canada Richard Wagner recalled that “many Canadians originate from Serbia” and that "their contribution helps Canada be a progressive, diverse and open country today,” the press release reads.
