Over the last 24 hours 17 people died from the coronavirus in Serbia while 4,091 new cases were registered, the Ministry of Health stated on March 8.
Out of the 4,237 people currently being treated for COVID-19 in hospitals, 176 are on ventilators. Since the outbreak of the epidemic 489,530 people have been infected, of whom 4,579 died.
Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic said on March 8 that one more reduction of opening hours for a week and one more weekend without cafes and restaurants were necessary. The medical part of the Crisis Headquarters for combating the coronavirus, which he is a member of, is not satisfied with the measures in force and will on March 9 ask that they be made stricter, Tiodorovic told Pink TV.
