Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic has said that all who have been opposing a multinational state of Montenegro and have been undermining the national identity will be held accountable.

In the evening on March 8, Djukanovic told RTV Niksic that all those undermining Montenegro “will not feel tight squeezed only in the Montenegrin institutions, but also in Montenegro,” noting that the cases of extreme national chauvinism had been on the rise.

He went on to say that a clear warning had to be sent out to those who saw their official positions as an opportunity to undermine Montenegro’s identity that their attempts would fall through.

Djukanovic reiterated that the situation in Montenegro was dramatic and that it was necessary to tighten Covid-19 countermeasures as the state had lost control over the virus spread and the healthcare system.

“It is all the result of the revanchism involving an inferiority complex of the new cabinet which has been trying to base its policies on diversity and unfounded criticism of their predecessors,” Djukanovic stressed.
