Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced that Serbia would soon "have a new vaccine factory" of the Chinese Sinopharm.

Speaking for the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation live from Abu Dhabi late on March 11, Vucic said the plant in Serbia would be built "in coordination with China and the United Arab Emirates," where he is visiting.

He also said that there would be few technical obstacles, as this future factory would have the help "of the greatest expert who worked for the Chinese," and who is now in the UAE. He said the production of the vaccine in the UAE would launch on April 1, adding that for Serbia this would mean access to more vaccines of this manufacturer.

Vucic also announced that Serbia would donate vaccines to neighboring countries, "even at cost prices," because "all the curing of our people is pointless if there's a problem in the region."

Speaking later for Pink TV, Vucic said it was important to have the population vaccinated, especially because of new strains of the novel coronavirus.

According to him, citizens will have to get vaccinations every year. The president announced that he would visit small towns and villages in Serbia to see why vaccination is slower in rural areas.

Vucic arrived in the UAE on March 10 and is slated to leave for Bahrein on March 12, where he will stay until March 14.
