Epidemiologist Predrag Kon said on March 17 that the UK strain of COVID-19 has mutated into a variant that is more transmissible and causes more serious problems.

Speaking for TV Pink, Kon added that the decision to return to online learning for grades five to eight in elementary schools was based on the experience of other countries in which this variant of the virus began affecting the children, which is now a tendency in Serbia, too.

Commenting on the stopping of the vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine in some countries, Kon said that when a problem appears, in this case the appearance of blood clots, it is normal to investigate the cause and suspend the use of the vaccine.

He added that it is possible to review the new, stricter measures that are in effect as of March 17 where it comes to hairdressers, cosmeticians and similar services.

He also said that the penalties for those not abiding by the measures should be stricter.
