Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko is of the opinion that “[Russia’s] strategic partnership with Serbia has – without exaggeration – a cosmic perspective.”

“We hope to soon establish a collaboration with our Serbian friends in the exploration and the peaceful use of outer space, and that we will achieve tangible results in that area,” Kharchenko wrote in his article for the Politika daily, published on April 12, the 60th anniversary of the first human travel to space by Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.

According to the Russian ambassador, the collaboration between Russia and Serbia has increasingly been gaining an innovative dimension. “Progress has been made at Belgrade’s Torlak Institute for Virology, Vaccines and Sera, in the organization of production of the Russian vaccine, Sputnik V (incidentally, named after the Earth’s first artificial satellite launched into space by Sergey Korolyov’s team in 1957),” Khachenko pointed out.

“On the agenda [at the moment],” he added, “is the construction of the center for nuclear science, technology and innovation, which, as planned, will manufacture next pharmaceutical products.”
