Batajnica hospital (SERBIAN GOVERNMENT/SLOBODAN MILJEVIC)
Tatjana Adzic Vukicevic, the manager of the Covid hospital in Batajnica, in the outskirts of Belgrade, on April 13 said that over the past few days, 45 patients on average had been hospitalized, which was “half the number” compared to the end of March.
She told state public broadcaster RTS that the hospital was currently treating 825 patients “with very severe illness,” among whom was “a large number of young people in intensive care units and on mechanical ventilation.”
Citing data of virologists, she said that most of the new patients had been infected with the British strain, which, according to her, “appeared on Jan. 12, and has been spreading,” adding that some cases infected with the Brazil variant had also been registered.
Adzic Vukicevic further said that among the hospitalized were also the patients “who have received first doses of Covid-19 shot and even those who have been revaccinated with both lungs affected.”
She added that in the past four months, the Covid hospital in Batajnica had admitted a total of 6,569 patients.
