Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic said on April 21 that relations between Serbia and Iran had reached a high level of development, and that Serbia supported the Iran nuclear agreement, a landmark deal between Iran and several world powers.

"Serbia and Iran are two friendly states that have developed a very good political relationship, providing political support to each other in international organizations," Selakovic said in an interview with Iran's IRNA news agency.

The minister added that good political relations should be "translated to economy, as well." Selakovic underlined there's plenty of room to develop bilateral ties, and that a Memorandum of Understanding that had been signed by the two states would facilitate the process. Selakovic has also invited Iran's delegation to visit Belgrade.

The Serbian foreign minister said that his country was proud to say that it was one of the few to have good relations with all the states of the Persian Gulf. Selakovic paid a two-day visit to Iran last weekend, meeting with the country's highest ranking officials.
