Darko Glisic, the head of the Serbian Progressive Party’s executive committee, said on May 24 that the personnel changes within the party will be known after the main committee’s meeting on May 29.

When asked about the possibility of Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic being dismissed, Glisic told the Vecernje novosti daily that the party is currently gathering the minutes from 169 of its local chapters, adding that every member’s opinion will be taken into consideration.

Discussing the personnel changes on the city and municipal levels, Glisic said that 50 percent of the elected mayors will be new to office. “We will be monitoring the [new mayors] during their mandates, just like we did the previous, which will tell us who’s being productive and who’s just sitting around, waiting for his mandate to end. Where there’s no performance or results, changes will be made,” Glisic explained.

He also expressed his belief that the official merging of the Serbian Progressive Party and Aleksandar Sapic’s Serbian Patriotic Alliance will take place by the end of May.

“It’s important to us that Aleksandar Sapic has a good understanding of our politics and that he is ready to contribute. All the rest is of less importance,” Glisic believes.
