Aleksandar Sapic, the recently elected vice-president of the Serbian Progressive Party, has stated that the Progressives will run in the next elections “with the strongest formation” they have.

“We will offer the best and strongest personnel solutions for every high position in the state and also for that of Belgrade’s mayor. Whether [in the latter case] it will be me or someone else, we will decide when the time comes,” Sapic told the Politika daily newspaper on June 2.

He also said that the manner in which his Patriotic Alliance of Serbia was welcomed by the Progressive party’s highest organs during the two parties’ unification gives him the right to believe that the unification passed in a positive atmosphere.

“The fact is that not one of the 169 municipal chapters of the Progressive party that had been appraising the performance of their party’s officials had offered any objections to the unification process,” the new party vice-president said.

When asked to comment on the resignation of Nebojsa Stefanovic from the post of the Progressive party’s Belgrade chapter head, Sapic responded that it would not be proper for him to comment on the situations from the period when he was not the yet part of the organization.
