Having toured a building site for a new Covid-19 hospital in the Miseluk suburb of Novi Sad, Serbian Minister of Defense Nebojsa Stefanovic said that 20,000 members of the national defense system had received the first dose of a coronavirus vaccine, and nearly 14,000 the second, too.

"The 19.500-sqm healthcare facility will offer more than 600 hospital beds, 220 of which in intensive care units. The plan is to finish the construction project by Sept. 1, 2021," Stefanovic was quoted as saying by his Office in a June 2 press release.

The minister underlined that more than 95 percent of military physicians have been vaccinated, "making clear" how important the immunization was. He also said that Serbia had a strong army, and that only as such it could guarantee the citizens "safety, a better life and a stronger economy."

"Thanks to reforms, Serbia had increased its economic strength and was able to invest in the strength of its army, purchasing most sophisticated equipment and weapons, but investing in people, too," the minister said.
