Corona virus

Over the past 24 hours six people died of the coronavirus in Serbia, bringing the death toll to 7,010, a post on the covid19.rs said on June 22.

A total of 72 new cases of the disease were registered in this period, while 9,249 people were tested. According to the post, 334 persons have been hospitalized while 18 are on ventilators. The health authorities have said that 715,913 cases have been registered so far.

Virologist Milanko Sekler said on June 22 that new Indian strain of the disease resembled the flu and its symptoms were less pronounced, despite being more transmissible.

"This  form of coronavirus is possibly a step in the right direction as usually when a virus becomes more transmissible it is less pathogenic," Sekler said adding that studies had proved that existing vaccines were effective against this strain of the virus.
