Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on June 24 that an intergovernmental conference with the EU, held earlier this week, was designed to be a positive signal to Serbia, where everything that the country had accomplished was noted, especially in the  rule of law.

"It is a big thing that it was concluded that cluster 1, which is the most important cluster, those are the basic values, was opened according to the new methodology. We already opened all of the chapters within that cluster earlier," Brnabic told Happy TV.

Brnabic said that she expected at least one more cluster to be opened, adding that Serbia had been fully prepared to open two clusters - cluster 3, competition and inclusive growth, as well as cluster 4, energy and green transition.

She said that the Croatian delegation stated that palpable progress was achieved, but dealt in things such as facing the past, the need for Serbia to recognize genocide in Srebrenica, as well as missing persons and the rights of minorities. "I did not want to go back to some things that were evidently hypocrisy on the part of some EU member-states," she said.
