Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that joining the EU no longer depends only on Serbia and that it is obvious that at the moment there is no desire for enlargement within the EU itself.

”We have made a big progress, we were constructive in our dialogue with Pristina [but] we have accomplished nothing as there is enlargement fatigue within the EU,“ Vucic told Euronews Serbia in the evening on June 29.

He expressed his belief that by the next presidential election Serbia can ”ensure the opening of all [negotiating] chapters.“

The president pointed out that the latest messages from Brussels say that Serbia has made big progress on its European path. Of course, there are also objections, but there are objections involving 90 percent of the EU member-states as well, he said.

Vucic also added that at the moment there is no desire for enlargement in the EU, and urged Brussels to accelerate EU integration not only of Serbia, but also of Albania and North Macedonia.
