Vladimir Cucic: Crisis As a Profession

Commissioner for Refugees and Migration Vladimir Cucic said on July 6 that 4,036 migrants were in Serbia's reception centers, whereas according to official records their total number in the country was 5,058.

Cucic told BETA that 852 people were outside of reception centers and that they were migrants who were not in Belgrade, while, as he put it, another 170 of them were registered in Belgrade.

He pointed out that the number of migrants "has been practically unchanged" since the early spring and that since then it had been varying "up or down up to 100 daily."

"The time of their stay in Serbia is growing shorter and is now 23 days on average," said Cucic and added that "there are no major problems" with the migrants, stressing that "the tensions that existed among them, as well as with the domestic population, have stopped or decreased conspicuously."

Cucic went on to say that the Commissariat was now focused on preparations for the upcoming winter because the number of people in reception centers increased in that period of the year.
