According to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who arrived in Skopje on July 28 for a two-day visit, Serbia, and Albania will sign three agreements on July 29 that will contribute to further economic integration between those countries.

During a press conference in the North Macedonian capital, Vucic explained that one of the agreements deals with the further removal of barriers and a faster flow of goods and services between Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania.

The second agreement has to do with joint prevention of, and mutual assistance and support in natural disaster, and the third document is expected to lead to a total abolition of work permits, i.e. the creation of a single labor market for all three countries, Vucic told the journalists.

“We’ve come to work on further development of our plans and ideas, that is to say, the development of the ‘Mini Schengen’ initiative whose actual name you will hear tomorrow,” the Serbian president announced.

According to Vucic, the first memorandum on the abolition of work permits will be signed on the same day. Working groups are to meet within two month following the signing, he added, and the new laws are expected to come into force as soon as possible, before the year ends or at the beginning of 2022.

“The third agreement means that if you can work in Belgrade, you can also work in Skopje or Tirana,” Vucic explained.

He also said that Serbia, North Macedonia and Albania will make a common web portal in all three languages where various cultural and tourist information will be shared and where the citizens of all three will be able to get necessary information about each individual state.
