Vojvodina, Shandong Province Sign Letter of Intent

A letter of intent to establish and develop friendly ties and cooperation between the Serbian and Chinese provinces of Vojvodina and Shandong, respectively, was signed at a Dec. 6 online meeting between Vojvodina's Premier Igor Mitrovic and the vice-governor of Shandong, Ji Binchang.

The Vojvodina cabinet reported that the two provinces would be working to encourage their institutions and companies to develop communication and cooperation in the areas of economy, infrastructure, agriculture, science, technology, education and environmental protection.

"This is the first step towards genuine cooperation between Vojvodina and Shandong in many areas of mutual interest. The relationship between Serbia and China develop in all directions," Mirovic said, adding that Serbia was China's reliable partner and ally in every respect, particularly the development of economic ties.

The Chinese ambassador to Serbia, Chen Bo, said that China was Serbia's third largest trade partner, adding that local and provincial ties were of special importance in the comprehensive bilateral relationship. Vice-Governor Binchang said that over the past few years, relations between China and Serbia had been developing particularly well, and that he was confident the new document would be a new driver of cooperation as well.
