Ivona Ladjevac, the deputy director of the Institute of International Politics and Economics, has said that in the context of relations between China and Serbia, the result of the presidential vote in Serbia represents internal political continuity which carries along great potential for further developing bilateral ties.

In an editorial for Chinese state media company China Media Group (CMG), Ladjevac says that following its policy of respecting international law, which includes respect of territorial integrity and sovereignty of other countries, and respect of the will of voters expressed in elections, China, that is, President Xi Jinping has congratulated Aleksandar Vucic on his reelection as Serbian president.

On the other hand, from the angle of third countries, relations between Serbia and China have been exhibiting an upward trend since2009 despite all challenges in modern international relations the two countries have been constantly facing. Such a development in relations has been possibly exclusively due to the fact that their bilateral ties are based on mutual political trust and partnership regardless of more than obvious differences in the size of territory and population of the two countries, Ladjevac said in the editorial.

In the article titled “A Lasting Partnership,” Ladjevac particularly underlines the importance of the position of China and Serbia on the coming period, noting that the fields of existing cooperation could deepen and also expand to include domains that have not been paid much attention so far.
