United for the Future of Serbia presidential candidate in recent elections Zdravko Ponos has said that "we won't have to wait for parliamentary elections for very long, because this situation is unsustainable."

"Vucic has promised many people all kinds of things and will have to trick someone in the end. Serbia will pay the price for his promises, the amount of time and space for maneuvering is decreasing and some things are already due for payment," Ponos told the April 14 edition of the NIN weekly.

He said that, "For Serbia it would have been better for someone new to have taken power, regardless of who, at least they would not be blackmailed" and stressed that "Vucic is a blackmailed man." "Without him, we would start from the beginning. With him, some processes will accelerate and we will have new elections in two years at the most, and, until then, we will see if we have learned anything, who will disappoint us, and who won't," Ponos said.

Asked by the weekly whether Serbia was being held hostage by the authorities but also unsolved relations inside the opposition, he replied "yes." Ponos also said that he would not join any party, as well as that his future political engagement depended on with whom and with what it would be realized.
