New U.S. ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill said at an April 15 meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic that “is clear that Serbia is advancing in the right direction,” the Government of Serbia quoted the ambassador as saying in a press release.

Hill and Brnabic agreed to work together to strengthen peace and stability in the Western Balkans, “Bearing in mind that this is a sine qua condition for Serbia and the entire region to move forward,” the statement said.

As for the relationship between Belgrade and Pristina, the prime minister and the ambassador agreed that a dialogue “is the only and the best way to normalize relations between the two sides."

Brnabic was quoted as saying that Serbia was committed to the dialogue with Pristina and that it sights were set on the future and that she hoped that during Hill’s term in office “the good relationship between Serbia and the United States will be advanced.” The Serbian prime minister said that the U.S. “is an extremely important partner” to Serbia, adding that U.S. companies employed a large number of Serbian citizens and were involved in capital projects, like the Morava Corridor.
