Serbian Minister of the Interior Aleksandar Vulin said at a May 4 ministerial conference within the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) that sanctions against Russia would not lead to peace in Ukraine, adding that Serbia would respect the territorial integrity of other states, expecting the same from others.

“Serbia will consistently respect the territorial integrity of all states, expecting, accordingly, that its own territorial integrity is honored, and that respect for the international law will be reborn in Serbia,” Vulin said.

The Ministry of the Interior quoted Vulin as saying that instead of focusing exclusively on refugees and displaced persons from Ukraine, the European Union (EU) should “not forget” the ongoing migrant crisis, likely to last and get worse.

Minister Vulin said that it’s necessary to reconsider the current policy on migrants, blaming “the lack of a common European policy” for all the problems stemming from the migrant crisis. The minister also said that Serbia was a reliable partner to international organizations in combating crime, and that it was ready to help with information and operative support alike.
