The Assembly of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce on May 30 re-elected Marko Cadez to head the organization for a new term of five years.

"We're living in a completely different world, full of challenges and unpredictability, which necessitates a new role for the chamber of commerce. Change starts with ourselves," Cadez said after he was re-elected, stressing that the new world also demanded being better acquainted with processes in every industry, following global trends and predicting their fluctuation, and creating solutions for challenges in traditional industries.

Pointing out that inflation, more expensive currency, costly energy and food, and ongoing crisis were global challenges that the Serbian economy too must face, he said the new role of the chamber included fundamental reorganization of human resources, labor processes, services and associations to meet the changed circumstances the economy is operating in.

Cadez also noted five key points as a reference for adjusting and responding to global unpredictability.

Those points are leveraging Serbia's comparative advantages in food production, bolstering local and regional supply chains with more inclusion of micro, small and medium enterprises, diversifying energy supply sources, building up the education system in line with economic need, and continuing the process of regional economic integration with a view to boosting the economies of the West Balkans and reduce tension in the region.
