Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic said on June 1 that the city of Belgrade and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have issued a new invitation to tender for the Krnjaca Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Vesic stated that the previous call for bids received no submissions despite 38 domestic and EU companies having bought tender documents. According to him, contractors were hesitant to commit to a 30-month contract allowing only a 10-percent price increase when the costs of labor and supplies are increasingly volatile due to the war in Ukraine.
The new invitation for bids has changed this stipulation in keeping with recent decisions made by Belgrade’s administration and the EU’s crisis policy. Interested parties may submit proposals by Aug. 2.
The tender is being executed according to a contract the City of Belgrade signed with the EIB for the construction of a sewage system on the left bank of the Danube. The entire project comprises the planning and development of a wastewater processing plant in the Belgrade suburb of Krnjaca, with the option of future expansion.
The purpose of the plant is to implement all the processes necessary for ensuring the biological safety of effluent, which will be released into the Danube, the capital’s information service, Beoinfo, announced.
