Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Branislav Nedimovic said on June 30 that Serbia had enough food staples and that the Cabinet would adopt on June 30 a conclusion on buying 130,000 tons of wheat for RSD40 per kilogram.

Nedimovic told Pink TV that the expected wheat yields to reach nearly three million tons, and that the harvest had already been completed in Macva, while it would be finished in most of Vojvodina by the end of the week or the beginning of next week.

"Serbia needs approximately 1.5 million tons of this crop, and we will have twice what we need," he said, adding that that meant that "we will have enough for our neighbors in the Balkans." According to him, wheat yields this year would be higher than the five-year average, but less than last year,  which was a record year.
