License plates and personal IDs are not at the heart of Pristina’s new decisions – the goal is, rather, to “continuously harass Serbs,” Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on July 1.

“Serbs [in Kosovo] are subject to constant provocations and terrorization – and no one is doing or saying anything about it. You’ll hear the occasional statement – which is at times more, at times less severe – but in practice they amount to nothing,” Brnabic stated.

Commenting on Kosovo’s denial of entry to those presenting only Serbian IDs – made to reciprocate Serbia’s regulations – and the demand that all vehicle license plates in the territory be replaced with those bearing Kosovo’s RKS emblem by the end of the year, Prime Minister Brnabic said that neither personal documents nor license plates are mentioned anywhere in the Brussels Agreement, while the first six points of that document do, in fact, mention the Community of Serb Municipalities.

Brnabic further stated that while EU spokesperson Peter Stano offered his opinion on whether or not Pristina had the right to make demands regarding local license plates, Stano made no mention of the Community of Serb Municipalities.

“Everyone is being hypocritical. With respect to the war in Ukraine, they keep referring to the U.N. Security Council’s resolution, yet no one mentions Resolution 1244 – it’s as if it doesn’t exist,” the prime minister concluded.
