Leader of the opposition People's Party Vuk Jeremic said on July 15 that participation in consultations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on the forming of a new government was not in the public interest because it helped to create the illusion of democracy and normalcy, whereas, as he put it, "nothing is normal."

"There is absolutely nothing the People's Party could talk about with Vucic. We have no intention of becoming a part of his government or cooperating in any shape or form with the regime. Who will be the prime minister is unimportant because it is clear who calls all the shots... One man makes all the decisions, everyone else is a puppet. We will not be one of those puppets," Jeremic told Nova S TV.

Jeremic, who is also a former Serbian foreign minister and former president of the U.N. General Assembly, further said that to date he had not heard a strong enough argument in favor of imposing sanctions against Russia. He says that the negative consequences that move would cause were known, but that it was not clear what bad thing would happen if Serbia did not impose the sanctions.
