Serbian Progressive Party official Goran Vesic said on Aug. 12 that Serbia would have a functional government in early September.

He told Prva TV that the Serbian Progressive Party had a majority with its "traditional coalition partner, the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians" but also said that practice showed that the Progressive party "has always aimed to have as many coalition partners as possible."

Vesic said there were two types of coalition partners - those who had been in an election coalition with the Progressives and who would certainly be part of the new executive "in this or that way." The other type of coalition partners are those who were not in an election coalition with the Progressives, said Vesic and added that talks with potential partners would be held "in the coming days."

"The president (of Serbia and the Serbian Progressive Party Aleksandar Vucic) has said himself that a government will be elected by the end of August, and so we will have a functional government already in early September," said Vesic.
