On Aug. 17, the United caucus, comprising oppositional assembly members, announced its support for the formation of an anti-corruption body for the city of Belgrade. United said that it has officially requested that the proposal – put forth by the BIRODI bureau for social research – be added to the agenda for the Aug. 18 session of the Belgrade Assembly.

According to the proposal, while all caucuses would nominate members for the capital’s anti-corruption committee, the majority of the body would comprise representatives of the opposition. Aside from assembly members, the committee could also include non-partisan individuals whom a caucus trusts to be objective and fair, the statement reads.

The United caucus consists of the Freedom and Justice Party, the Movement of Free Citizens, the Movement for Turnaround and the Concord Trade Union.
