Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that he is hoping for some kind of compromise solution in the negotiations with Pristina in the coming days, but that "no such solution can be reached on (license) plates and some major issues."

"We will continue the talks and I believe that in the days ahead we will be able to reach some kind of compromise solution at least for a small portion, since it is clear that no such solution can be reached on plates and some major issues," Vucic said in an address posted on his Instagram account sometime after midnight on Aug. 25.

After the failed round of negotiations in Brussels on Aug. 18, EU special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak and the U.S. deputy assistant secretary of state, Gabriel Escobar, are visiting Pristina and Belgrade in an attempt to broker an agreement between the two sides on license plates and entry and exit documents by Sept. 1.
