Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic nominated on Aug. 27 former Prime Minister Ana Brnabic for prime minister-designate.

"Ana will not be the prime minister for four years. Her term in office will be shorter and there will be changes in the government in 2024," Vucic said in a public address from the presidency and added that he had nominated Brnabic after hearing the opinions of representatives of elected tickets.

"The decision was complicated, complex and [made] inside the biggest party in the country. When it came to choosing between Ana Brnabic and Milos Vucevic, not even the biggest party in the country wanted to make a decision because they both have the party's political support," said Vucic. He added that Milos Vucevic, until recently the mayor of Novi Sad and the other candidate for prime minister-designate, would be a deputy prime minister.

Vucic also said that Socialist Party of Serbia and the previous parliament speaker, Ivica Dacic, would, "Besides an important ministerial position," also occupy the post of security services coordinator. "Ivica Dacic will have an even more important position in the state apparatus. Sinisa Mali, whom I have enormous trust in, will be one of the deputy prime ministers," he added
