Political analyst Dusan Janjic stated on Aug. 30 that, based on the fact that the protests during the weekend against the holding of the EuroPride event in Belgrade were led by the “Night Wolves” bikers’ association, it was clear to him that the Russian military intelligence agency GRU was behind the protests.

Commenting on the protest dubbed “Procession for the Salvation of Serbia,” at which the Bishop of Banat Nikanor stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he referred to as “the emperor of planet Earth,” was the example of the right approach to gays, Janjic told TV Prva that “with the ‘Night Wolves’ and the bishops, it is obvious that GRU was behind it.”

He added that the war in Ukraine and the consequences it has caused was the opportunity for “making corrections” in our foreign policy and dependence from energy sources from Russia, adding that “the Russians did not use tanks to force Serbia” into energy dependence, and that Serbia was in a similar position in that respect to other countries of the European Union.
