After Pristina Escobar to Meet with Serbian Officials in Belgrade

On Oct. 20, U.S. Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar is meeting in Belgrade with the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, and prime minister, Ana Brnabic, as well as the Office for Kosovo’s chief, Petar Petkovic.

The day before coming to Belgrade, Escobar met with Kosovo officials in Pristina and asked them to postpone the decision on license plates for another 10 months. The government in Pristina has demanded a mandatory replacement of Serbian registration plates with Kosovo one’s by Oct. 31.

Following his meeting in Kosovo on Oct. 19, Escobar told Pristina’s Kanal10 TV later that evening, that the U.S. supports the German-French proposal for a deal on Kosovo, adding that the final decision is mere weeks away.

Escobar also said that he had discussed with Kosovo officials the various models of the Community of Serb Municipalities, which, according to him, must be established and must be in accordance with the laws and constitution of Kosovo.

EU Special Representative for Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak also visited both Pristina and Belgarde earlier this week.
