Bosnia's Electoral Commission Confirms Result, Dodik Elected RS President

On Nov. 2, the Central Electoral Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed and announced the results of the general elections held on Oct. 2 this year.

The Commission stated that the decision to confirm the election results at all levels was brought after the appellate chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina dismissed or assessed as ungrounded the appeals of political parties against the earlier announced election results, and the demand of opposition parties for the "annulment of the elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina."

On Oct. 27, the Central Electoral Commission determined the election results for all levels of authority, except for Republika Srpska (RS) president, because opposition parties from that Bosnia's entity had appealed to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, citing "huge irregularities" at this election level, because of which they requested an annulment of the election.

After the order for a recount of votes, the Commission announced on Oct. 27 that Milorad Dodik had been elected president of RS. On Oct. 2, the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina elected the new Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the state's parliament, president and vice-presidents of RS, the RS Assembly, the parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the assemblies of the ten cantons in the Federation. The new members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina are Denis Becirovic, Zeljka Cvijanovic and Zeljko Komsic.
