Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with French Senate president Gerard Larcher on Nov. 25 with whom he discussed advancing Serbian-French cooperation, the situation in the region and Serbia's bid to join the European Union, the Serbian Presidency said in a press release.

Larcher said it was obvious that the sincere friendship and trust built by French President Emmanuel Macron and Vucic was transforming into strategic partnership between the two countries, stressing that this was evident upon landing at Belgrade's airport which is being reconstructed by the French Vinci Airports.

Vucic stressed that the visit of the French Senate president was the best indicator of the continuity of the two countries’ political dialog, especially considering that France was one of Serbia's most significant political and economic partners, and that the two states shared an historical closeness and friendship.

Larcher also met with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic and other officials while in Belgrade. The president of the French Senate praised Serbia's results in economic reforms and stressed that room had been made, together with intensive work on reforming the justice system, to step up economic cooperation and for a larger number of investors from France to come to Serbia.
