Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Nov. 2 that a statement by U.S. Special Representative for the Western Balkans Matthew Palmer that Serbia could face sanctions for buying Russian military equipment was a very good illustration of how the United States treated Serbia.

"We didn't buy the S-400, and everything else has been known for a quite a while, and I don't think it's a problem. Yet it does speak of how they treat us," Vucic said in an interview with the Novosti daily.

The president explained that the U.S. used different standards for different states, describing the potential sanctions as "completely unjust and unfair."

"We will be very careful, of course, because I don't want anyone in Serbia to be exposed to sanctions imposed by the world's greatest power, however unjust and unfair they may be," Vucic said.
