Executive Director of the Foundation for Open Society Serbia Milan Antonijevic on Nov. 7 commented on the tensions between the government and the opposition, and the PINK TV special on protests in front of the RTS building during President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic’s appearance on the national broadcaster, saying that the two cannot be compared, and that those in power and the opposition do not have the same responsibilities, that is, that the government has a bigger responsibility.

“National frequencies are being abused and it’s obvious who’s doing it – the government. The tensions are so high that there are, unfortunately, no boundaries left,” Antonijevic said in an interview for daily Danas.

Antonijevic believes that the only solution is a dialogue.

“If a dialogue in communities, as a civilizational heritage of sorts, was possible centuries, millennia ago, why wouldn’t it be possible now? It’s obvious that the so-called specials, that is, special shows on a TV station with a national frequency – such as PINK TV – are not helping nor showing that there’s readiness for a dialogue, but we’ve had such crises before. Tensions in the society at the moment are such that dialogue is the only solution,” he added.
