People’s Party leader Vuk Jeremic, who is co-chairing the Alliance for Serbia, said on Dec. 6 that the “increasingly aggressive” attacks by “Aleksandar Vucic’s regime” against the Alliance for Serbia, particularly the Party of Freedom and Justice leader, Dragan Djilas, but also all “free” journalists, were sparked by the fact that reports on scandalous actions by the authorities had begun to surface.

Noting that, over the past few weeks, Djilas had become the biggest victim of “the regime’s crazy propaganda and media outlets,” Jeremic said that the way the opposition leader was “drawn a bull’s eye on his forehead is without precedent in the history of Serbia.”

“Stories of liquidations and assassinations are being aired. At least a million people in Serbia believe there is a plan to kill Vucic, and that we from the Alliance of Serbia are involved. It could have disastrous consequences for everyone mentioned in that context,” Jeremic said at a press conference.

According to the People’s Party leader, the regime has stepped up its attacks on the Alliance, because “it is unable to offer a rational answer” to a series of scandals that the opposition bloc has unveiled over past several weeks.
