The building of the Ministry of Internal affairs of Serbia in Belgrade is secured by four private companies, among which is BPS Security, founded three years ago with the original capital of 100 dinars, whose owner is the former state secretary of the Ministry, the NIN weekly reported in its Feb. 13 issue.

According to the report, the decision on employing private security contractors was brought at the start of December last year, 23 days before Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic publicly admitted that such a "pilot project" was being "considered."

"The framework agreement envisages that, for the services of securing the Interior Ministry, i.e. for the period of less than a month, the consortium consisting of BPS Security, VIP Security, 4GS Secure Solution and Tisten Group, are paid RSD10 million, as well as 50 million in this year and another 50 million in the next, before VAT. So, the total with VAT adds up to RSD132 million or 1.12  million euros," NIN reported.

The paper added that the owner of BPS Security was Milena Vukovic, and that the Insajder portal discovered earlier that she was the state secretary of the Interior Ministry while Stefanovic was the minister. NIN also discovered that, in the meantime, BPS had been employed by a number of other state bodies and companies, in similar contracts. According to the weekly's calculation, the total value of these contracts added up to tens of millions of euros.
