Matthew Palmer, the U.S. state secretary's special envoy for the Western Balkans, said in a message on the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Accords that Bosnia and Herzegovina had the potential to fulfill the promise of peace by actualizing its Euro-Atlantic potential, stressing that the U.S. would focus the most on the future of Bosnia in the next 25 years.
The U.S., together with our partners from the international community, is proud to have had a hand in drafting the Dayton Accords, while understanding that the citizens of Bosnia made the final decision to build a future for themselves, their children and coming generations. As we commemorate this turning point, the U.S. is focused the most on the future of Bosnia in the next 25 years, Palmer said according to a Dec. 13 report on N1 Sarajevo TV.
Palmer said EU integration for Bosnia meant a better economic landscape which will make new, essential jobs possible, in order to keep youth in the country, and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.
According to him, this means improvements in the rule of law and the struggle with corruption, together with reliable local and state administration that works for the citizens.
