North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Zoran Zaev has said that on the sidelines of the recent NATO Summit he met with U.S. President Joseph Biden and invited him to visit the Western Balkans.

“I also met with President Biden, we had an opportunity to talk. We talked primarily about energy connectivity which we have been building through the Alexandroupolis project, involving the U.S., Greece and North Macedonia, but we also talked about his visit to the Western Balkans,” Zaev told the state news agency MIA on June 15.

Zaev further said he took the opportunity to invite Biden for a visit, adding that the U.S. president had “positive comments, saying he was conversant with the Western Balkans, that the region enjoyed Washington’s full support and that he would surely plan a visit. “

At the recent NATO Summit in Brussels, North Macedonia for the first time participated as a full-fledged member.
