North Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said on July 29 that a new era of cooperation in the region of the Western Balkans was beginning.

Opening an Economic Forum for Regional Cooperation between North Macedonia, Serbia and Albania, he stressed that the representatives of over 300 companies from these three countries along with 100 representatives from the chambers of commerce and business communities of other Balkan states as well as the region outside of the Balkans were participating in the summit.

The summit was jointly organized by the prime ministers of North Macedonia and Albanian and the Serbian president and the plan is to unveil the new name of a regional initiative previously known as the Mini-Schengen.

Zaev stressed that "the massive response of companies in terms of participating in this event and becoming active factors in the further strengthening of the region sends out a strong message that the Balkans are beginning to create the highest level of understanding and that economic connectivity and the creation of a dynamic and vital regional economic space is our joint wish and ambition.
