Croatia admires the resistance of the Ukrainian people and the country's European aspirations, and stands ready to help with its experience in post-war rebuilding, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said in Kiev on May 8.

Plenkovic arrived in Kiev on an unannounced visit on Victory Day (May 8 in Europe) and ahead of Europe Day, stressing in his speech Croatia's heartfelt support for the Ukrainian resistance against aggression by neighboring Russia, but also for Ukraine's European path, the HINA news agency reported.

Croatia has experienced aggression itself, and "we understand how hard the pressure is and how difficult things are for the defenders and the Ukrainians." "I highly value the heroism of Ukrainian soldiers defending their homes, their families, their territory and their homeland," the prime minister said.

At a news conference with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, the Croatian prime minister insisted on support for the Ukrainian people's European aspirations, which he said he was well acquainted with and had worked to achieve before becoming prime minister.
